Burnout is a common issue for students, especially during exam periods. To avoid burnout, it's important to take regular breaks and reward yourself for your hard work. Here's how you can incorporate breaks and rewards into your academic planning:

  1. Schedule Breaks: Use your planner to schedule regular breaks during study sessions. A 5-10 minute break every hour can help you stay focused and refreshed.

  2. Pomodoro Technique: Try the Pomodoro Technique—study for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. After four sessions, take a longer break.

  3. Reward Yourself: Set small rewards for completing tasks. It could be a treat, a short walk, or watching an episode of your favorite show.

  4. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to signs of fatigue. If you're feeling overwhelmed, take a longer break or switch to a different activity.

  5. Reflect and Adjust: At the end of each week, reflect on your study habits. Adjust your schedule if you notice signs of burnout.

I’ve experienced burnout multiple times, and it’s something I wouldn’t wish on any student. The first time was particularly tough because I didn’t know what was happening. Now, when I sense burnout coming, I find ways to slow down. My favorite rewards after completing challenging tasks include watching my favorite TV show, going for a walk, cooking something delicious, or making pancakes.
